Alexis Edmunds Obituary, ROANOKE, VA. — A 23-year-old Roanoke man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 22-year-old Alexis Edmunds on Saturday night, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as Alexis Edmunds, 22, of Roanoke. Police said Tiahjae Silas Paige was arrested and charged in connection with her death after officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2900 block of Bluestone Avenue NE.
According to investigators, officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 11:19 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire. When police arrived, they found Edmunds suffering from fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Paige was located at the residence and taken into custody as detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The preliminary investigation determined that an argument between Paige and Edmunds escalated before shots were fired.
Authorities have not released additional details about the dispute or what happened immediately before the shooting. Detectives continue to collect evidence, speak with witnesses, and investigate the events that led to the fatal incident.
Paige was later formally charged with second-degree murder in connection with Edmunds’ death. Police clarified that the charge was updated from earlier reports that incorrectly stated Paige had been charged with first-degree murder.
