Conor Harrigan Obituary, SUMMERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Summerfield community is mourning the tragic loss of 16-year-old Conor Harrigan, a Summerfield High School student who was killed Friday evening in a Polaris Ranger rollover crash in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash happened at approximately 5:24 p.m. in the 19700 block of Taft Road in Summerfield Township. Authorities said Harrigan, of Petersburg, was operating a blue-and-black 2021 Polaris Ranger in a private field south of Taft Road when the crash occurred.
Investigators said Harrigan was driving the off-road utility vehicle with two juvenile passengers inside when he approached a curve and lost control. The Polaris left the main path, and as he attempted to guide the vehicle back onto its intended course, it overturned onto its left side, ejecting all three occupants.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Harrigan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The two juvenile passengers were initially treated for what authorities described as minor injuries and were released by emergency personnel. Their parents later transported them to a Metro Detroit hospital for additional medical evaluation.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that none of the occupants was wearing a seat belt at the time of the rollover. Authorities said alcohol is not believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
Following Harrigan’s death, Summerfield Junior/Senior High School shared condolences with his family, friends, classmates, and the entire school community. School officials described Harrigan’s passing as a heartbreaking loss and said support opportunities are being provided for students and staff as they grieve.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division. Authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the rollover and are asking anyone with information to contact the Traffic Services Division at 734-240-7548 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Conor Harrigan’s death has left family, friends, and classmates remembering a young life lost far too soon. The Summerfield community continues to stand together in support of those affected by this devastating tragedy. May he rest in peace.
