Monty Corbet Obituary: Enid Man Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash at Grant County Intersection

Monty Corbet Obituary, GRANT COUNTY, Okla. — Monty Corbet, a 56-year-old man from Enid, Oklahoma, was killed Thursday evening after his vehicle crashed into a traffic signal pole and became engulfed in flames at an intersection in northern Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Authorities identified Corbet as the victim of the deadly crash, which happened shortly after 7:15 p.m. on June 25 at the intersection of State Highway 60 and U.S. Highway 64 in Grant County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report, Corbet was traveling northbound on State Highway 60 when his vehicle approached the intersection. Investigators said the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign, continued through the intersection, and left the roadway.

The vehicle then struck a traffic signal pole, causing it to rotate from the impact before coming to a stop. The vehicle later became fully engulfed in flames. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Corbet suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash. Authorities have not released a cause for why the vehicle failed to stop or left the roadway.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Investigators are working to determine whether factors such as medical issues, impairment, speed, distraction, mechanical problems, or other conditions may have contributed to the crash.

Monty Corbet’s death has left family members, friends, and the Enid community mourning the loss of a loved one. As authorities continue their investigation, many are remembering Corbet and honoring his life and memory. May he rest in peace.
