Quantavious Lee and Charles Barnes Obituary, ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two 21-year-old men, identified as Quantavious Lee and Charles Barnes, were killed early Friday morning in a devastating three-vehicle collision on the Inner Loop, according to the New York State Police. Two additional individuals were injured in the crash.
Authorities said the fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. near Joseph Avenue in Rochester, prompting a large emergency response from first responders who arrived to find multiple heavily damaged vehicles across the roadway.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that an SUV was traveling in the wrong direction when it entered oncoming traffic lanes and struck a Ford head-on. The force of the initial impact reportedly pushed the Ford into the path of a Jeep, triggering a second collision involving all three vehicles.
Lee was identified as the driver of the Ford, while Barnes was a passenger in the same vehicle. Both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Authorities confirmed that both men died instantly due to the severity of the impact.
The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The driver of the Jeep also sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said those injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Investigators with the New York State Police continue to examine the circumstances that led to the crash, including why the SUV entered the wrong side of the roadway. Authorities have not yet determined whether impairment, distraction, speed, or other factors contributed to the collision, and no charges have been announced at this time.
The tragic crash has left two young lives lost and several families grieving as the investigation continues into one of the most severe roadway incidents on Rochester’s Inner Loop in recent times. Authorities are expected to release further details as the case develops.
May Quantavious Lee and Charles Barnes rest in peace.
