Douglas Keith Petty Found Dead – Obituary, GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man who was recently reported missing was found dead Thursday afternoon inside a residence on Dorsey Street. Authorities have identified the victim as Douglas Keith Petty.
According to police, officers responded around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday to a home in the 1400 block of Dorsey Street while assisting the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office with a report of suspicious activity at the property. During the joint response, investigators located a deceased individual inside the residence.
The victim was later positively identified as Douglas Keith Petty, who had recently been reported missing prior to being found. Law enforcement officials confirmed that, based on preliminary findings, the circumstances surrounding his death are being treated as a homicide investigation.
Authorities have not released details regarding the cause or manner of death, and no suspects or arrests have been announced at this time. Investigators say they are continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews as part of the active case.
