Brandon King Obituary, OLIVE BRANCH, MISS. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of Brandon King Friday afternoon at a residence on Fox Tree Lane in Olive Branch. Police said the incident appears to be domestic-related and left another person injured.
The Olive Branch Police Department identified King as the man who died following the shooting reported in the 7400 block of Fox Tree Lane. Officers with the Olive Branch Police Department and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 1:00 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a shooting.
According to investigators, the initial emergency call came from a woman who reported that she had been shot in the hand. When officers arrived at the scene, they found King outside the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers immediately provided medical assistance before emergency personnel arrived and continued lifesaving efforts. Despite those efforts, King later died from his injuries. The injured woman was treated for her gunshot wound and was released by emergency medical personnel, police said.
Authorities confirmed that three children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Investigators have not stated whether the children witnessed the incident or suffered any physical injuries. Several people inside the residence were temporarily detained while detectives processed the scene and collected information.
Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects as the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities said detectives are working to determine the events that led up to the shooting, establish a motive, and determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
During a news conference, Olive Branch Police Chief Carlos Garcia encouraged residents facing domestic conflicts or personal crises to seek help before situations escalate. The police department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding King’s death and additional details are expected to be released as the case develops.
